World-Class Stallions
at our EU-Certified Station

At Hreyfing Icelandic Horse Center, we’re here to support you and your mare during the breeding season. Our team of veterinarians and AI technicians work with one goal in mind – to get your mare pregnant in a safe and professional way.

Stallions for the 2025 season

We offer a carefully selected group of stallions available for AI, TAI, and FAI breeding.

If you need help translating the stallion list or selecting the right stallion for your mare, feel free to contact us – we’re happy to help.

Quick guide to the Swedish terms on the stallion page:
Hingst = stallion
Typ av sperma = type of semen
Betäckningsavgift = covering fee
Dos = dose
Tillgänglig via = available via (AI/TAI/FAI)

Services We Offer:

  • Fresh semen (AI): Collected from a stallion on-site, examined, diluted, and inseminated immediately.

  • Chilled semen (TAI): Collected, analyzed, diluted, and cooled. Then shipped in chilled transport to a receiving station.

  • Frozen semen (FAI): Follows the same process but is frozen and stored in liquid nitrogen.

  • Embryo transfer: The embryo is collected from a donor mare and transferred to a recipient/surrogate mare.

  • Hand mating: The stallion covers the mare under controlled conditions.

Not sure which method is right for your mare? Contact us – we’ll guide you.
All horse breeds are welcome – we value diversity.

Hand-Selected Stallions for Thoughtful Breeding

We are proud to offer a carefully selected group of stallions, known for their strong bloodlines, proven performance, and outstanding conformation.

Our stallion roster may change slightly each season, but our goal remains the same: to provide mare owners with access to top-quality breeding stallions suited for both sport and breeding programs.

Who we are

Hreyfing Icelandic Horse Center is run by Sissel and Åsa Nevander Holmén, just outside Norrköping, Sweden. Together, they operate a semen station and offer services in training, breeding, and farriery.

With over 20 years of experience in breeding, horse training, and education, they are committed to providing high-quality care and guidance – with the horse’s wellbeing at the center.

  • Before arriving at our station, your mare must be healthy, sound, and recently dewormed. She must also present a negative CEM test. We recommend taking her temperature twice daily for 5 days before arrival. Remove hind shoes if possible – we can also assist with this on-site.

    Think about your mare’s strengths and weaknesses and what you want to improve in the foal. Choose a stallion that complements her traits. We are happy to guide you through the options. Once you've chosen a stallion, make sure to submit the contract and booking fee well in advance of the breeding.

    Our team will monitor your mare’s cycle, handle semen reception, inseminate at the optimal time, and follow up with pregnancy checks.

  • Yes. We regularly ship chilled and frozen semen to stations and clinics in other EU countries. You do not need to bring your mare to our facility – we will coordinate the shipment directly to your local veterinarian or AI technician.

  • Our goal is to offer excellent care and breeding services at fair and transparent prices.

    The cost includes:

    • Station fees

    • Veterinary services (ultrasound, ovulation control, insemination)

    • Boarding (pasture, feed, care)

    • Any needed treatments, bacterial tests, medication, or hoof trimming

    A complete price list is available in Swedish when reading about each stallion. You're welcome to contact us directly and we’ll provide detailed information in English.

  • We work with all three methods of insemination:

    • AI (Fresh semen): Collected and used on-site the same day.

    • TAI (Chilled, transported semen): Collected, analyzed, cooled, and delivered to us.

    • FAI (Frozen semen): Stored in liquid nitrogen, thawed at time of use.

    We also offer embryo transfer, depending on availability.

    Mares can stay at the station during the entire process. We monitor their cycle using ultrasound, inseminate at the right time, and perform a pregnancy check about 14 days later.

  • Yes. Our team includes experienced veterinarians, insemination technicians, and support staff. We work closely together to ensure each mare receives the best possible care.

    From ultrasound exams to insemination and follow-up, our vets are available throughout the breeding season.
